'Change alone is eternal, perpetual, and immortal.'
Arthur Schopenhauer
For Come Up to My Room, my work focuses on metamorphosis.
Life is made up of phases both beautiful and challenging. We desire the stability
of stasis, but we flourish with change; it forces us to pause, analyze, and
quantify our experiences.
At times, we must build a cocoon
with our history, creating a space to take a sometimes difficult look at
our lives, mourning the things we will leave behind, and to accept others and
ourselves for the fragile, imperfect beings we are. Even the most positive
transformations stressfully force us out of our comfort zone; we have to rebuild
our confidence in new surroundings and regain our bearings.
Through this process, we become our
truer selves.
